The
greatest western expansion of people in American history, thousands moving westward to
new territories to find a better life for themselves and their families. Part of our rich heritage, which created today's United States, the
western expansion from 1835 to 1880 is a symbol of what our country
stands for in freedom and independance. Along the way, many
outposts, settlements and towns were created and many disappeared.
Fortunes
came and went, leaving behind a rich historical information about the
people who traveled, worked and created the building of America. These sites are to be preserved and protected for our future generations so they may understand what and who we are and what America represents, as a free nation. | ||||
